It’s a horrible experience to be involved in a car accident. All in just a few second, everything changes and suddenly your day, your week and possibly even your life is ruined.
Some people manage to get away with just minor damage to their cars but others will suffer serious injury as a result of a car accident and these can sometimes be fatal.
For those who are not involved in accidents as serious as this, they may like to gather together some information in order to make it easier to make a personal injury claim, should they need to.
If anyone is injured, the most important thing to do is to ensure that the right medical attention is sought, but once this is done, the following information should be collected.
• the name of the other driver
• the registration plate of the other car
• address and telephone number of the other driver
• their insurance details
• the name and contact details of any witnesses to the accident.
If you can, make a note of the circumstances of the crash, while it’s fresh in your mind.
It’s not a pleasant experience, going into hospital. Most people try to avoid it wherever possible. But there are times in which people who are suffering are happy to go into hospital as they are relieved to be receiving medical attention. These people will go to hospital hoping that their medical problems will be dealt with and resolved and they assume that they will be in better health once they get out of hospital.
However, this sadly is not always true and there are some occasions in which the patient will come out of hospital actually worse off than when they went in. And this is due to the fact that medical staff will sometimes make mistakes. Some of these mistakes will occur because of careless behaviour and negligence and this is when patients will make a personal injury claim.
There have been thousands of cases of medical negligence over the years, from cancer patients being misdiagnosed, to delays in caesareans being given to women giving birth. One delay or wrong decision can have a massive impact on patients.
In cases such as these, the patients will make a personal injury claim as a way of helping them recover from the pain and suffering caused.
A man is now free to make a personal injury claim after an NHS Trust has admitted liability for the brain damage he now suffers with.
The NHS Trust has accepted that their mistakes led to the brain damage and this means that the victim is able to make a personal injury claim against the hospital.
The man was left brain damaged following surgery that went wrong. And it was revealed after the brain surgery took place that the surgery was unnecessary anyway.
During the surgery, a biopsy of a tumour was taken; but a part of healthy brain was taken by mistake and it was discovered that the tumour was benign and could have been dealt with by tablets.
Because of the mistake made, the man has to have care 24 hours a day and he needs constant supervision. He suffers from memory loss and has also suffered loss of sight.
Before this happened, the victim lived an active life and so the incident has really changed him; it’s made more difficult for family to cope with, knowing that it could all have been avoided.
A woman made a successful personal injury claim after she fell down a manhole that was left open. The accident happened while she was on holiday. She was just going back to her room, having been in the swimming pool, when she fell down the manhole.
The woman fell on the floor 12 feet below and suffered some serious injuries. She suffered head injuries and her leg was completely shattered. The woman had to be taken to hospital and she underwent operations to try to deal with her injuries. She had metal plates fitted into her leg but it is expected that she will have problems with her health for the rest of her life.
Following on from the accident, the woman now suffers from osteoarthritis in her ankle. This problem means that she can’t walk without using crutches. The woman also had to take a lot of time off work; she has now gone back to work, but cannot work as many hours as she did before.
The woman has made a personal injury claim following this accident and has claimed that the hotel was negligent. The cover of the manhole had been lifted by staff carrying out pool maintenance, but there were no signs to warn of this.
We all go to work in order to earn enough money to be able to pay our bills. Not many people enjoy being at work but when we do have to go to work, we are entitled to feel safe and secure in the workplace.
It is the job of the employer to make sure that the staff have both the training and the equipment to be able to do their jobs in a safe manner. When employers do not supply their staff with the right training and equipment, then they are putting them in danger of accidents and therefore injury. This is when a worker might choose to make a personal injury claim.
Some industries are more dangerous than others of course and construction is an area in which workers are more likely to experience accidents than if they are in the office. However, there are risks everywhere and anyone can suffer an accident and injury at work.
The employer is responsible for the health and safety of its workers. And so if an employee is injured, they can often make a personal injury claim against their employer.

According to reports there have been several other personal injury claims in the same area following trips and falls and several safety risks have already been pointed out following audits of the area.
A spokesperson for the council concerned with this area has simply stated that they wish the victim a quick recovery. It is not yet known how much the woman in claiming in her personal injury claim and these sorts of claims can vary hugely, depending upon liability and also, the extent of the injuries sustained.
A woman is making a personal injury claim against a company in Florida after she was left with injuries following a boat ride.
The woman and her husband had decided to hire a boat to take out into a lake. The woman’s husband was driving the boat and before they set off, he stopped to allow a ferry to pass. However, the ferry then reversed and crashed into the couples’ boat.
The impact severely damaged the side of the boat and also nearly knocked the woman out of the boat. She suffered serious injury and had to have emergency surgery because of a ruptured aorta.
The woman had to stay in intensive care for eight days and she will now have to keep returning for checkups at hospital because of the severity of the operation she underwent.
As well as the ruptured aorta, the woman also suffered fractured ribs and fractured vertebrae in the incident.
It has been reported that the woman has made a personal injury claim against the company that hired the boat out. However, the company has blamed the victim’s husband for the way in which he drove the boat.
New information released has shown that two teachers have been given accident compensation following injuries sustained at work.
The two teachers have been given a total of £55,000 following injuries sustained after they slipped on wet floors. One of the teachers suffered damage to their wrist and the other one suffered damage to their foot.
The teaching profession is one that is full of possibilities of injury because it is a very active job, which varies hugely. A lot of the time, following one of these accidents, the victim will make a personal injury claim in order to receive compensation for the pain and suffering they have had to endure.
One of the cases that is currently active involves a teacher who fell over a lunchbox that was left on the stairs and another claim that is currently ongoing relates to a teacher who was assaulted by a pupil during a cricket match.
If a teacher is involved in an accident and they suffer an injury as a result, they will often be able to make a personal injury claim. There has been an attempt recently to reduce the number of accidents happening in schools, meaning a reduction in the number of personal injury claims being made.
New statistics revealed have shown that £45,000 has been paid out in compensation following personal injury claims made by school pupils.
This amount was paid out in the period between 2007 and 2010 in South Wales and the money was given to victims of accidents that occurred on school property.
One example case referred to a child who fell over on steps that were broken; the child was awarded £3000 in compensation and another child was given £1,850, after falling over a gate fixing on school property. As well as this, another child was awarded £4000 for catching their finger in a door and £2000 was given after a table fell on top of a child.
The most amount of compensation paid out in the area was by the council in Cardiff, which had to pay out £18,000. The Rhondda Cynon Taf council paid out £11,950 and £10,250 was paid out in Caerphilly. One of the lowest amounts was the £5000 that was paid out by the Vale of Glamorgan council.
Some may think that these figures are high, but actually in comparison, they are low as the area council has a very strict view on health and safety matters in schools.
Compensation has been awarded to a woman who made a personal injury claim following mistakes made during a routine operation.
The woman made a personal injury claim following a gall stone operation and has now been awarded £92,000. She was initially sent to hospital when it was first discovered that she had a gall stone and she underwent an operation. To begin with, it seemed that she would recover, but a few days later, she started to suffer from severe pain. Her health deteriorated and her organs soon started to fail.
Investigation into her illness found that in her original operation, the woman’s bile duct had become damaged. This had really damaged her health and she ended up having to have seven litres of bile drained out of her body.
The personal injury claim was made against the surgeon involved in the operation but he denied responsibility, stating that the injury was the result of other problems.
However, when the case went to court, it was agreed that the problems occurred because of the negligence of the surgeon and the woman was awarded £92,000 as a result of this conclusion.
